Palworld, the popular open-world survival game featuring monster catching, continues to delight players with frequent updates and new content. Since the game's Early Access launch in January 2024 (Palworld on Steam), developers Pocketpair have added a host of new features, adjustments, and gameplay improvements that keep the gaming experience fresh and entertaining. In this blog post, we take a closer look at the latest Palworld updates—including exciting new features such as crossplay, Photo Mode, and Global Palbox, various gameplay improvements, and a look at upcoming content according to the official roadmap. Whether you're already an experienced Palworld adventurer or considering jumping into the game now, these updates are sure to enhance your enjoyment.

Palworld mixes cute graphics with dark humor – here you can see the adorable "Pals" diligently working on an assembly line in a lava-filled area. The latest updates add lots of new content and features to this unique game.

New features in Palworld's updates

The latest updates to Palworld have introduced a number of significant new features and content that expand the game's possibilities. Here are some of the highlights from the latest patch versions:

  • Crossplay across platforms: One of the most requested new features is full crossplay support, allowing players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 to now play together in the same world. This unites the Palworld community across platforms and makes it easier than ever to team up with friends—regardless of device.
  • New island area – Feybreak Island: The major Feybreak update added a brand new island, described as the "largest and most challenging" yet. This new island is six times larger than the previous Sakurajima island and features many new Pals, biomes, missions, and challenges. Players can explore uncharted terrain, encounter new unique creatures, and battle powerful bosses on Feybreak Island.
  • Lots of new Pals: Palworld's precious creatures—known as Pals—have received a huge boost. The Feybreak update alone added more than twenty new Pals to the game, each with unique abilities and designs. From cute support Pals to fearsome battle partners, the new additions expand Palworld's "Palpedia" and give players even more creatures to capture, train, and work with.
  • Global Palbox & Dimensional Pal Storage: To handle all the new Pals, update v0.5.0 introduces a Global Palbox system that lets you save Pal data and transfer Pals between worlds. In addition, a Dimensional Pal Storage has been introduced with 10 times the capacity of a normal Palbox, which can be shared with your guild or used as personal storage with private access. This means more space for your favorite Pals and easier management of your collections across servers.
  • Photo Mode: Finally, budding game photographers can rejoice with a new Photo Mode. Using the Pal Command wheel, you can now hide the HUD and freely move the camera to take amazing screenshots of your adventures. Capture beautiful moments of your Pals in action or immortalize your base builds with the built-in Photo Mode.
  • Cosmetic Armor (Antique Dresser): Love the look of a particular armor, but found better gear? With the new cosmetic armor system, you can transfer the appearance from one armor to another without changing their stats. In the Antique Dresser, you can dress your character visually exactly how you want, while still wearing the most effective equipment.
  • Blueprint Drafting Table: Crafting enthusiasts also get new toys. A Drafting Table lets you combine low-rarity recipes to create higher-rarity blueprints. This feature rewards players who collect many blueprints by allowing them to upgrade their plans to something even better.
  • New Weapons, Items, and Skins: Each major update has added new weapon types, tools, and even cosmetic skins for your Pals. For example, Feybreak brought new materials (such as Hexolite) that can be forged into powerful weapons and armor, as well as winter skins for select Pals. These additions add extra depth and personalization to the game.

One of the most exciting aspects of these features is how they enhance the multiplayer experience. With crossplay and new sharing features, friends can now easily explore the new islands and collect Pals together. If you want the absolute best multiplayer experience, consider starting your own Palworld server—more on that later.

Tip: With crossplay now enabled and vast new areas to explore, there's never been a better time to start your own Palworld server to play with friends. (We'll discuss how PineRiver can help you set one up a little later!)

Gameplay and balance improvements

In addition to new content, the developers have focused on refining gameplay, fixing bugs, and adding quality-of-life improvements. The latest updates include a wide range of adjustments that make the game more fluid and satisfying to play:

  • Building and base improvements: Base building has become more intuitive. Buildings can now be placed even if they overlap with a Pal, and when you connect foundations or roofs, they will automatically adjust their orientation to align with existing structures. This makes it easier to construct complex bases without annoying limitations. In addition, torches have been added at the entrance to random caves for better visibility, and players can now sit on chairs and cushions for added immersion.
  • Balance changes: The developers are constantly adjusting the game's balance to keep the challenge reasonable. For example, the rewards from element chests have been updated (they now always give Dog Coins and have a chance of rare books), experience (XP) from certain enemies has been increased, and damage for some weapons has been raised to better match their difficulty. The level cap was also raised from 50 to 55 in a previous update, giving hardcore players more progression. All of these changes motivate players to continue their adventures and try new strategies.
  • Pal AI and QoL: Many quality improvements have been implemented based on feedback. Pals' pathfinding and work routines in bases have been improved so that they no longer get stuck or stop working in the field. A new "Favorites" system lets you sort your favorite Pals into up to three groups, and Pal boxes can now be sorted by work suitability level, making it easier to manage a large collection of creatures. These small changes make a big difference in the long run when you spend hours building the perfect Palworld base.
  • New difficulty levels: For those seeking a greater challenge, Palworld has added two Hardcore settings – permanent loss upon player death and permadeath for Pals. Enabling these makes survival extra demanding: if your character dies, you lose everything, and if a Pal dies, it's gone forever. These options give experienced players a whole new way to test their skills and add Nuzlocke-like excitement to Palworld.
  • Bug fixes and performance: Of course, every patch also addresses a long list of bugs. Recent updates have fixed everything from strange physics glitches (e.g., players could be thrown into the air while climbing or when dismounting a flying Pal) to multiplayer-specific issues (Pals getting stuck on feed barrels on dedicated servers, etc.). At the same time, the game's stability has been improved to handle the large player base, and servers have been optimized for less lag. Pocketpair has made it clear that bug fixes and stability are top priorities before new additions, which is good news for players.
With better balance and fewer bugs, battles in Palworld are more fun than ever. Here, a player is seen riding a flying Pal in the open landscape—the game's ever-expanding world now offers even more action for both solo and multiplayer adventurers.

Overall, these improvements make Palworld more polished and user-friendly. From base building to combat and Pal handling, players can tell that the developers are listening to feedback and continuously adjusting the game. The result is a more well-rounded game where the new features really shine because the foundation has become so solid.

Upcoming content and roadmap

While the latest updates have already added a wealth of content, the adventure doesn't stop there. Palworld is still in Early Access, and the developers have an ambitious roadmap for 2025 and beyond. Here are some of the most exciting things we can look forward to in upcoming updates:

  • PvP and Pal Arena: Soon, players will not only be able to cooperate, but also compete directly against each other. A dedicated PvP mode is in the works, where you may be able to challenge other players in battle – either with your character or via your Pals. In addition, there are teasers of a Pal Arena, a kind of tournament arena where Pals battle against Pals. This will add a whole new layer of strategy and competition to Palworld, perfect for those who want to test their team of Pals against others.
  • End-game raid bosses: Coop enthusiasts can look forward to epic challenges in the form of endgame raid bosses. The developers are planning massive boss battles that require coordinated teamwork between multiple players to win. These raids will fill the gap in the endgame and give experienced groups something big to strive for—with correspondingly big rewards, of course.
  • Trading system and Pal transfer: Social features are also being expanded. An official trading system is in development so players can safely trade Pals and items with each other. This will likely include the ability to trade across worlds/servers, allowing you to switch Pals between different worlds (something that is actually already possible in a limited form via Global Palbox). In addition, server transfer is in the works, so you can move your world or progress to another server. This is good news for those who fear losing progress by switching servers or starting over after major updates.
  • New worlds and biomes: The world of Palworlds will continue to grow. According to the roadmap, several new islands and areas with unique biomes, Pals, and missions are planned. Each new island brings fresh content and varied environments to the game—from lush forests to harsh deserts or mysterious ruins. Players can look forward to exploring previously unknown areas of Palworld and encountering all-new types of Pals in future patches.
  • Improved dungeons and more adventures: Existing dungeons and battles will also be reviewed. There are plans to rethink some dungeons to make them more engaging and challenging, as well as to introduce more random events into the world (previously, meteor strikes, supply crates, and Pal nests have already been added to make the experience more dynamic). More variety and surprises are just around the corner.
  • Mod support: One of the most exciting ideas for the future is official mod support. Pocketpair has hinted that they want to open Palworld up to modding, which could potentially give the game an infinite lifespan. With mod support, the player community will be able to create new Pals, items, building styles, and even entirely new game modes. This would be a game-changer that could make Palworld a true platform for creativity and significantly extend its lifespan.
  • Final boss and story conclusion: Although Palworld is primarily sandbox-oriented, the developers have also mentioned that a final boss battle or end scenario is in the works for the long term. This suggests that the game will have some kind of climax to the story at full launch that dedicated players can work towards. It will be exciting to see how the story threads come together and what the final goal will be in this crazy world of Pals.

With so much on the drawing board, the future looks bright for Palworld fans. Pocketpair has clearly committed to expanding and improving the game on an ongoing basis, and 2025 is shaping up to be a year filled with Palworld adventures. It's clear that the developers are listening to feedback and striving to deliver new content that both surprises and delights players, while making the core experience better and better.
