Contact usIntroduction
Modding your Hytale server opens up a whole new world of possibilities, from new weapons and furniture to advanced server plugins. With us, you have two ways to install mods: via our automatic Game Panel (recommended for beginners) or Manually via FTP (for advanced users).
Method 1: Automatic Installation via Game Panel
Our Game Panel is integrated directly with CurseForge, making it easy to find and install safe mods with a single click.
- Log in to your Game Panel.
- Navigate to your server and click the Stop button to turn off the server completely.
- In the menu on the left, click on "Hytale Mods".
- Use the search field to find the mod you want (e.g., "Advanced Item Info").
- Click on Install. The system will now download the latest version that matches your server.
- When the installation is complete, go back to Console and start the server.

Method 2: Manual Installation (FTP)
If you have developed your own mod, or have downloaded a file that is not found in our Mod Manager, you can install it manually. You will need an FTP client like FileZilla or use the panel's built-in "File Manager".
Step 1: Prepare the File
Download your mod. This will typically be a .zip file (for assets/mods) or a .jar file (for plugins).
Step 2: Upload to the Server
- Connect to your server via FTP (your login details can be found under "Settings" in the panel).
- Open the folder named
mods. If it does not exist, you must create it (in lowercase). - Drag your
.zipor.jarfile into this folder. - Ensure that the file is located directly in
mods/and not inside a subfolder.
Step 3: Enabling "Early Plugins" (Advanced)
Some plugins require special permissions to run. If you install a server plugin (.jar) and the server crashes on startup, you may need to enable "Early Plugins".
- Go to the "Startup" tab in the Game Panel.
- Find the "Accept Early Plugins" setting and set it to On (or add
--accept-early-pluginsto the startup line).
Step 4: Restart
Start your server and keep an eye on the console. You should see messages like [ModLoader] Loaded mod: Name. If you see error messages, please check our troubleshooting guide or contact our support.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| The server will not start after mod installation | Check if you accidentally extracted the zip file. Delete the folder and upload the original .zip file again. Also check if you are using Java 25. |
| Players cannot see new items | This is often caused by network issues. Ensure that UDP port 5520 is open, as Hytale streams assets to players via this port. |
| "Server session token not available" | Restart the server. If the problem persists, check if Hytale's authentication servers are down via their status page. |
